Hyde Parish Council Objects to Major Housing Proposal at Stuckton
Hyde Parish Council has formally objected to proposals within the New Forest District Council Local Plan Review (Regulation 18) to allocate land at Stuckton for 600–800 new homes.
The Council considers the site to be unsuitable, citing significant concerns over flood risk, infrastructure capacity, and road safety, alongside potential harm to the setting of the New Forest National Park.
The objection also highlights the loss of valuable agricultural and commoning land, increased pressure on protected habitats, and the risk of merging rural communities with urban development.
Residents have raised strong concerns about the scale of the proposal and its impact on the character and sustainability of the area.
The Parish Council concludes that the site is unsound and should not be taken forward.
